Frequently Asked Questions

Bulbs & Light Sources

Are bulbs included with my fixture?

Bulbs are not included unless stated on the product page. Each product page lists the exact bulb type and quantity in its specifications. We recommend a warm white LED bulb (2700K–3000K) for a soft, ambient feel.

What bulb type do I need?

It depends on the fixture. Many of our pendants use an E27 screw base, while some lights use other fittings (for example E14 or G9) or an integrated LED. The exact fitting is listed in the specifications on each product page. Never exceed the maximum wattage stated for your fixture.

Can I use any bulb with the right fitting?

Yes, any LED bulb with the correct fitting and within the stated wattage limit is compatible. For dimmable fixtures, choose a bulb labelled dimmable and pair it with a compatible LED dimmer switch.

Indoor & Outdoor Use

Can I use these fixtures outdoors?

No. Our fixtures are rated IP20, which means they are designed for indoor use only and must not be installed outdoors or anywhere exposed to moisture.

Are they suitable for bathrooms?

No. IP20-rated fixtures must not be installed in bathrooms or wet rooms. Bathroom zones require a minimum of IP44.

Installation

Do I need an electrician to install my fixture?

Our ceiling pendants and wall lights are hardwired to mains electricity. For your safety, we strongly recommend installation by a qualified electrician, in line with UK wiring regulations (BS 7671) and Part P of the Building Regulations.

What is included for installation?

Each fixture ships with its mounting hardware and installation instructions. Wiring components, consumables and installation itself are not included.

What voltage do your fixtures require?

All of our fixtures are designed for UK mains voltage, AC 220–240V.

Dimming

Are your fixtures dimmable?

Some are. Whether a fixture is dimmable is shown in the specifications on its product page. Dimming requires both a dimmable LED bulb and a compatible LED dimmer switch; your electrician can advise on the right dimmer.

My lights are flickering — what should I do?

Flickering is usually caused by a non-dimmable bulb on a dimmer, or a dimmer that isn't compatible with LED loads. Check both. If the issue continues, contact us at support@kaitoandco.co.uk.
